Welcome to the DIY Animatronics forum!
As of today 9/10/14 everything is still being setup so things are still in a bit of a state of flux. Things may change around a bit as I figure this forum stuff out. I'll also be adding a whole bunch of material over the next couple of weeks, including links for tool and materials suppliers. If anyone has additional links/resources just let me know and I'll add them to the list.
My reason for creating this forum is to help people who want to add animatronics and electronics to their costumes and replica props. After answering countless messages over the years, talking to friends and doing a bit of searching on the web I finally decided to create a place where people can get help, share ideas and discuss their animatronic/electronic projects.
The rules here are simple:
1) Don't be a jerk. Everyone has to start somewhere and everyone is still learning. Help other people as others have helped you. I'm sure people will feel like they have answered the same questions over and over but if you don't have anything nice or constructive to say then just move along.
2) Keep it clean. Don't post nasty language or pics. There are a lot of young folks that have a keen interest in this hobby and that is something to be encouraged- they don't need to be subjected to foul language or imagery. Nobody here wants to be subjected to that.
3) This is a forum to discuss your awesome projects. If you want to talk about cool technology and what is happening in the world that's OK as long as it is relevant but this isn't a forum to discuss politics/religion/world events. There are plenty of other forums for that. Talking about movies, comics and technology is cool- telling everyone else what they believe is wrong isn't and it won't be tolerated.
4) Don't spam. That's great that you like metal sided buildings and cheap sunglasses but spamming will get you banned.
If there are other categories that you want to see or you think something can be done better just say so- constructive criticism is always welcome! The goal is to make this a friendly and helpful place for like minded people to geek out.
